R. B. BAKER CONSTRUCTION INC., A SUBSIDIARY OF REEVES CONSTRUCTION CO.,
WINS NATIONAL AWARD FOR QUALITY IN ASPHALT PAVING
Project on US 84 / SR 38 in Wayne County (GA) earns national recognition
(Garden City, GA) R.B. Baker Construction, Inc., a subsidiary of Reeves Construction Company, has been awarded the prestigious 2011 Quality in Construction Award for “Excellence in Construction,” in recognition of work performed on US 84/SR 38 in Wayne County. The award was announced by the National Asphalt Pavement Association (NAPA) and awarded to Baker officials during NAPA’s annual meeting in Palm Desert, Calif., in January.
“While we are appreciative of every award our projects receive, recognition from NAPA is especially valued as it places our projects among the top tier of projects from across the country,” said Stoy Marlow, Vice President of R.B. Baker Construction.
“NAPA selects the recipients of its paving awards using a known set of standards that have been shown to provide a good result,” said Kim Snyder, 2011 Chairman of the NAPA Board of Directors. “This award demonstrates the high quality of work that R.B. Baker Construction is performing.”
The scope of the US 84/SR 38 project included widening 5.2 miles of the road from two lanes to four, as well as the replacement of a traffic signal, new road alignments, two miles of concrete paved median, sidewalk, and driveways. It also updated and relocated storm drainage, water and sewer facilities.
R. B. Baker Construction paved the project in phases to reduce the construction impact on homeowners and on local businesses.
“The end result was a smooth asphalt pavement that serves area residents well, and improves the transportation corridor significantly,” said Marlow.
