State Route 17 Widening of Thomson, GA

Reeves Construction was awarded two road widening contracts in the Summer of 2015 for the Georgia Department of Transportation in Thomson, GA. The projects are joined end to end and total approximately 17 miles of converting a two lane route into a four lane divided highway.  The projects are joined end to end and total approximately 17 miles of converting a two lane route into a four lane divided highway. Construction began in March 2016 and the overall project completion date is September 2019. The work includes approximately 1.6 million cubic yards of unclassified cuts and borrow, construction of 6 bridges, placement of 400,000 tons of graded aggregate base course, 300,000 tons of asphalt, and 25,000 linear feet of reinforced concrete pipe ranging from 18”- 60” in diameter.
