Reeves Augusta was awarded a project consisting of 6.13 miles of milling, inlay and plant mix resurfacing on I-520/ SR 415—beginning south of SR 56 and extending to the South Carolina state line. This project was very difficult due to time limitations with a late paving season award. The project required unique aggregate gradations, new mix designs, close coordination between plant, project, and quarry. The project also created additional coordination with FOB customers who traditionally use Riverwatch as their primary facility. Logistics were very critical for this project as the market experienced a truck shortage and this placed further stress on the project. The asphalt smoothness evaluation went from 1088mm/km preconstruction to average 497mm/km final surface, a 55% improvement. The entire team did a great job making this project a success. The project is currently 100% complete. Project completed in March 2015.
