Our two projects on GA Highway 17 in McDuffie and Wilkes counties total approximately 16 total miles of construction. The projects consist of converting a two lane highway into a four lane divided highway between the towns of Thomson and Washington, GA. Two new lanes will be constructed in newly acquired right of way parallel to the two existing lanes. The two existing lanes will then be removed and reconstructed. The projects also include the construction of six new bridges.
Major components beyond the six new bridges will include:
- 1,530,000 cubic yards of unclassified excavation
- 294,900 cubic yards of borrow
- 440,000 tons of graded aggregate base course
- 293,944 tons of asphalt
- 25,000 linear feet of storm drainage
These two projects will be constructed simultaneously with completion dates for both projects in the summer of 2019.
