On January 27, 2010, the National Asphalt Pavement Association (NAPA) announced that Reeves Construction Company was the winner of the 2009 Asphalt Operations Safety Innovations Award. Reeves received its Award on Wednesday, January 20, 2010, at a special awards breakfast during the Association’s 55th Annual Meeting in Maui, Hawaii.

The award regognizes companies that develop innovative ideas or achieve practical outcomes leading to improved worker safety in a roadway, plant site or quarry environment and whose safety practices are above and beyond normal safety practices.

Reeves Construction Company won the award for its new safety training video. The video highlights safety practices for every aspect of the asphalt industry, from the handling of liquid asphalt cement to the making of the asphalt in the plant and then the actual laydown of the asphalt on the highways.

The four-section video explains Reeves’ committment to safety and outlines general safety policies. Other sections focus on the handling of hazardous materials on the job and the safe use of equipment.

Reeves Construction Company is very proud of the video and everyone’s contribution to it’s creation. It’s fun to watch our own employees in it!
