I-26 Clinton, South Carolina

Sloan Construction Company’s $42 million resurfacing project on I-26 near Clinton, SC, for the South Carolina Department of Transportation is just one example of the diverse and challenging projects that we undertake.  This project consisted of 350,000 tons of asphalt paving, cross slope rehabilitation for safety corrections, shoulder work, bridge jacking, milling, and grading along 16 miles of interstate roadway.  With approximately 8 miles of the paving work required to be performed during nighttime hours, Sloan made the strategic decision to relocate one of our portable asphalt plants to a site adjacent to the project to ensure that maximum day and night production could be attained.

Completing the cross slope corrections required surveying the entire roadway surface with the latest technology providing the highest degree of accuracy, and designing the final elevations to achieve a two percent cross slope, while at the same time providing for optimum ride-ability.  This attention to detail and precision engineering was required to meet stringent SCDOT Tolerance Levels.

The precision engineering and design was matched by our highly trained and qualified crews as they transformed the design into yet another successful project.
